The four specialisations
of Cornelissen Company
Cornelissen’s employees are the heart of our company. We continuously invest in our people. We know better than anyone just what the market demands of us. That’s why we set up the Cornelissen Academy within the transport sector. Alongside its own Code 95 training courses, the Cornelissen Academy provides various other courses for its drivers. These teach them to drive more safely, to save fuel with smarter techniques and insights, and they explain damage and stress prevention. These are tailor-made training courses, compiled individually and geared to the daily practice of our drivers.
Jo Cornelissen began his transport company in Nijmegen in 1930. Coal was transported to the local gasworks by horse and cart. We are proud of our company’s history. For example, Cornelissen participated actively in the reconstruction of Nijmegen after the Second World War, by also taking on the spadework. One of Cornelissen’s first road transport customers was what was then called the Dutch Export Paper Mill. That was in 1935. Essity, as the paper mill is known today, is still a customer.
The company underwent rapid growth after Henk Cornelissen took it over in 1991. It has grown into a modern logistics service provider with 350 trucks, some 800 employees, sustainable and smart solutions, 25,000 m² warehousing, a pallet company and the specialist transport and storage facility Polar Special.
