Mercedes-Benz Trucks Netherlands will deliver its first all-electric distribution truck from series production to customers in the Netherlands on Tuesday 15 May. This 7.5-tonne truck has been designed specifically for urban distribution, and represents a major step towards making the fleets of Albert Heijn, Cornelissen Group, Bidfood, PostNL and Technische Unie more sustainable.
The FUSO eCanter is a light truck without any emissions of CO2 and other harmful substances, and with no noise pollution. The eCanter was developed by Mitsubishi FUSO Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC), part of Daimler Trucks, and is produced for the European market in Tramagal, Portugal. The FUSO eCanter represents the future of sustainable urban distribution.
The move to the FUSO eCanter is a logical one, says Managing Director Mark van der Drift. “We launched our first electric vehicle in 2008, making Cornelissen Group a forerunner in clean urban distribution. The FUSO eCanter is an important step for clean and quiet transport, combined with a full service model and the proven technology of the Daimler Group.”
